Well I just came from the Vet and my dog needs a shampoo with a special soap ( no fleas or ticks ) I raced to store that closes at 9 pm I entered the store at 8 : 10 pm and the girl working being the counter was cleaning the per wash ..I told her I needed to give my dog a bath . SHE said I'm sorry out pet wash is closed..I said it's only 10 after 8 and NEED to bath my dog she just came from the Vet. .. I have given her a bath at this time before, she said our pet wash is closed ..I already cleaned the tubs !! Very rude ! I have worked in Pet stores as well as Veterinary offices before ..this is not how you treat someone with a pet in need ! No where in the store or website did I see anything about the pet wash closing at 8:30 pm !! I'm so mad bottom line is she didn't want to have to reclean the area ! So now my dog who is 100 lbs will need to wait until I can find a place to give her a bath and get some relief !!
Excellent prices on food, also made in Canada where they are more stringent than the FDA here. They have a great bathing facility for your furry friend! Everyone is very knowledgeable as well.
What I like most about this store is the self bathing tubs. They are elegant looking, tiled - which allows my dog to grip so she is not slipping and sliding like a stainless steel tub, and clean. They do provide the blow dryer and towels, and I vaguely recall them having Shampoo and a brush, but I usually bring my own. As of my last visit, the baths were $12 and they limit your time, so you can take more than an hour if needed. Even though Petco is a couple dollars cheaper, I like this place more because of the tile vs stainless steel, no dogs constantly barking, and I don't have to worry about my time being up and having to leave with the job not finished. As for the products that they stock in the store, they have a good selection for the store size but it doesn't compare to the big box stores.
I was shopping in the plaza in Allentown this store is located. I needed bedding for my hamster. Was never there before, but store was extremely neat and clean, very well tended, and I was greeted upon entering. However, I looked for bedding and thought I would go with a pine shaving bedding, it had a hamster right on the bag, instead of my normal tissue type bedding. I had heard something about pine, but didn't remember. I asked the salesperson clearly plainly, I never used pine shaving bedding before, is it safe and ok? She replied very confidentally, Sure, it's fine, we use it too. Later my roommate said they heard to the contrary and went online to the ASPCA itself and printed out a warning bulletin that it was definitely NOT to be used as hamster bedding as well as cedar, ever. I called the store and got an apology. If I did use it I would not be able to PROVE it was the reason for the death of my pet. Thank God I didn't. I will never go to that store again. It's a pet store, not Walmart. They should know, at least according to the ASPCA you would think. It's unfortunate, it's a nice store.
